A finish and an Anzac Vigil

I've finally managed to finish something. I started this quilt at the beginning of the year for a dear friend who is also off work (back injury). Her birthday is at the beginning of May but she will be on away so I gave it to her last week. She's a huge minion fan (characters from the movie Despicable Me) so they were the inspiration. I used minky fleece on the top and nursery fleece as the backing; I must say it was really warm (wool wadding) and like me my friend's a "cold frog" so it will be well used.

I'm immensely proud of my DD's. They both took part in an Anzac Vigil with their scout group. There were 15 youth members (ranging from 8 to 17 years), 3 leaders and a parent helper. In pairs they took it in turns to stand vigil at the memorial in 1/2 hour stints for 12 hours. They were absolutely amazing it was down to 1.8C just before dawn but they didn't complain or make a fuss - they certainly showed the Anzac Spirit

lest we forget.

Easter Time Swap - Wow

I joined in Jewells Easter Time swap. Well to say I was spoiled was an understatement..... Jewells was my partner; I was very good and resisted temptation; only opened them this morning.

Jewells made the spoons (markers for the garden); tea towel and placemats. A great swap.

FNSI - an achievement

I joined Wendy and the gang on Friday for FNSI and I managed to achieve something (very pleased with myself). I'm making a wall hanging for a friend who's having a hard time at the moment and the saying on it is just perfect (plus she loves sunflowers) " Every flower that ever bloomed.... had to to through a whole lot of dirt to get there".

I drew the applique and ironed it onto the fabric; not a huge achievement but an achievement none the less.

I'd best check out what everyone else did..........

Can't see the light for another bend........

Well I thought I was on the upwards trend toward the light but these last two weeks I've found a bend and can't see the light at all. I've been feeling anxious but can't pin point why; comes on for no apparent reason and stays around for a while.

That sums up how my head feels........ Also feeling flat with no inclination to do a lot. So back to the GP and another change in meds and sleeping tablets. I can certainly see why sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture; so I'm going to try stillnox (bit reluctant given the bad press but it is what the independent psychiatrist recommended). I have to take no anti-depressants for a week and then start the new one's next Wednesday. As I seem to be sensitive to any medications it's going to take a month before I'm up to the recommended dose. (These are what I need)......

I had my regular date with the psychologist today and she tried some hypnosis with me. I've never had hypnosis before; not really sure how it went; my brain wandered +++++ and couldn't stay on task but I'll give it another go. I've been having recurring dreams (for Harry Potter fans it's as though I'm in the Ministry of Magic and all the paper "memo's" are flying down a long dark tunnel) and they're either bright pink or bright purple! No idea what they mean and I'm not sure I want to try to work it out.

I'm trying to do some craft each day; some days it is just "feeling the fabric" but that tactile touch does release some endorphins even if I don't actually make anything; I get a positive vibe. I have made a bag for DD1 (she asked for one instead of chocolate for Easter) but that's taken me the best part of 2 weeks when normally it would take about 4 hours - I found a new method for attaching the "D" rings but my brain just couldn't compute and that got me quite frustrated - they're only 1" by 2" pieces of fabric but could I figure it out..........NO. They're on but I'm not really happy with them DD1 will be and at the end of the day that's what matters.

DD1 chose the outer and lining fabric and I chose the yellow for the card slots and the zipper pouch (yellow is one of her favourite colours). DD2 has chosen chocolates which at least will be less stressful LOL.

We have had a positive this week 28mm rain ....

Take care

Easter Swap with Jewells

More surprise mail for me this week courtesy of Jewells. I'm taking part in her Easter Time Swap; I've been very good an not squished or poked (she put clues on the wrapping so that has helped my self control). I've hidden them in the back of the wardrobe until Easter Sunday LOL (much easier to resist temptation when you can't see them).

Thanks Jewells xxx

Jewells Easter Swap

I'm taking part in  Jewells Easter Swap. I only made one of the items which I'm a bit disappointed with; I would have liked to make more but I just couldn't find the motivation but 1 is better than none. Here they are before I sent them today :) Hopefully my partner will find a use for each item.

I did enjoy finding something for each letter.

Easter 12" Mini

Oh my goodness. DH brought the mail home tonight and there was a box from Peg. I was a little puzzled as I don't know anyone called Peg but when I opened it the penny dropped. It was my mini from Cheryll's 12" mini swap. Peg has done an amazing job; the stitching is gorgeous and the wall hanging will have pride of place come Easter. Peg also spoiled me with a beautiful journal to write in and some chocolates (DD2 has already offered to help me eat them!).

I wasn't having a very good day but receiving my parcel certainly added some sunshine. Thank you Peg xx
